CAIRO, Jan 29 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's accusations that Hamas has helped former President Mohamed Mursi and others escape during the January uprising in 2011 are “politicised and serves the interest of the Zionist enemy,” a statement by the Islamist movement said on Tuesday.

The Egyptian authorities postponed the trial of Mursi and his aides in the case of prison break on January 28 during the uprising in 2011 on Tuesday after prosecutors said their escape was supported by Hamas.

Members of Hamas, Palestinian offshoot of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, and Hezballah party stand trial in this case along with other Islamist leaders.

Egypt also accuses Hamas of supporting militant groups in Sinai who have escalated their attacks on security forces since the ouster of Mursi, who hails from the Brotherhood, in July. The attacks have extended to Cairo and other cities.

On its side, Hamas said that “all of these allegations are nothing but lies,” and demanded an end to incitement against its movement.

“Stop exporting the Egyptian internal crisis to Gaza.”
