A judicial source said on Tuesday that prosecutor-general Talaat Abdullah's deputy Hassan Yassin will act as the country's top prosecutor until the reinstatement of Abdel Maguid Mahmoud, Al-Jazeera reported. 

Egypt’s Cassation Court struck down on Tuesday a legal challenge filed by the Mursi-appointed prosecutor-general Talaat Abdullah against a court order that annulled his appointment.

The ruling is final and means the return of the Mubarak-appointed prosecutor-general Abdel Maguid Mahmoud as the country’s top prosecutor.
