The number of people injured in clashes between President Mohamed Mursi's supporters and his opponents in Alexandria on Friday rose to 12, Aswat Masriya correspondent reported.

The injured were transferred to Ras al-Tin General Hospital.

Scuffles erupted earlier today when thousands of Mursi supporters stood in front of al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque chanting in support of the president following the Friday prayer while hundreds of his opponents gathered at a park in front of the mosque chanting anti-Mursi slogans.

Some protesters broke into the Freedom and Justice Party's headquarters in Mahatet al-Raml in downtown Alexandria.

The protesters set the contents of the office on fire while chanting "Down with the rule of the guide" (in reference to the Muslim Brotherhood's General Guide) and "The people want to overthrow the regime".
