CAIRO, Feb 2 (Aswat Masriya) A UNESCO technical delegation that was sent to Egypt to renovate the Islamic Arts Museum that was destroyed by a bomb over a week ago has said that the front, ceiling and most of the halls suffered serious damages, said Egypt’s Minister of Antiques Mohamed Ibrahim.

The minister told the state news agency that the delegation explained that the infrastructure of the museum is stable and safe, but the art collections were destroyed and will take years to be returned to their original state, which requires international funding and support on both political and financial levels.

The UNESCO had expressed great concern following the bomb blast that was directed at a security office in Cairo, but damaged the museum as well.
