Scuffles ensued on Tuesday between protesters and security forces in Alexandria's railway station after the protesters cut off the railway line and halted the train movement in a development following the tragic Bardashin train accident that happened overnight.

A train traveling from Upper Egypt to Cairo derailed on Tuesday morning, killing 19 conscripts and injuring 107, in yet another traffic tragedy.

The security forces fired teargas to disperse the protesters following the injury of three central security officers during the scuffles.

Security director of Alexandria, Nasser Abed, said that two of the protesters were detained.

He added that "the situation is now under control and the railway trains are in conduct according to schedule."
