CAIRO, Aug 21 (Aswat Masriya) -  Egypt will receive a concessional loan worth $451 million from Japan  to resume the Grand Egyptian Museum project, said the cabinet on Sunday.

The Grand Egyptian museum will include over 100,000 artifacts and will be built over 117 acres in Giza.

The partial opening of the museum is believed to be in 2018.

The announcement was made on the heels of a meeting between Prime Minister Sherif Ismail with Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Motome Takisawa.

The duo discussed bilateral relations and increasing cooperation between both countries, said the cabinet.

Takisawa expressed Japanese companies' willingness to invest in Egypt particularly in the energy sector. He pointed to the petrochemical complex which was built in Alexandria in cooperation with Japan.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated earlier in August the petrochemical complex of Egyptian Ethylene & Derivatives Company (Ethydco) in Alexandria.
