Protests in Tanta on February 8, 2013 - Aswat Masriya
Thousands of protesters from different revolutionary powers and youth movements in different cities in Gharbiya on Friday demonstrated to demand ousting President Mohamed Mursi, toppling the Muslim Brotherhood, and sacking the cabinet.
During demonstrations under the title of "Checkmate Friday", demonstrators chanted, "The people demand the downfall of the regime" and "Down with the rule of the Guide" in reference to the Muslim Brotherhood Guide.
In Tanta, hundreds marched from al-Sayed al-Badaw and al-Sheikha Sabah Mosque to al-Shohadaa area in front of Tanta's city council.
Participants held pictures of Mohamed al-Gendi, an activist who was killed last week amid claims of torture till death by the police.
They demanded sacking the Minister of Interior and trying him and Mursi on charges of killing protesters.
Hundreds also rallied at al-Shoun Square in Malaha to denounce the rule of the Brotherhood and Mursi and call for toppling the regime.
