CAIRO, Mar 25 (Aswat Masriya) - The Egyptian army has killed 60 militants and injured 40 more in the North Sinai, the military spokesperson said on Friday.

The military statement added that 32 “terrorist” storehoues and 27 four by four cars were also destroyed. The killings come in “the context of finishing Operation Martyr’s Right… for retribution for the blood of martyrs from the armed forces, the civil police and the innocent citizens.”

Aswat Masriya could not independently verify the content of this statement. Anti-terrorism legislation imposes heavy fines on news organisations that contradict official statements.

According to separate statements by the armed forces over the past year alone, hundreds of suspected militants have been killed and hundreds more arrested in multiple security campaigns launched by the army.
