Violent clashes broke out on Sunday in Suez between supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Mursi and supporters of the army-backed government, leaving three people wounded.
At least 3, 000 pro-Mursi protesters marched to al-Arba'een Square and clashed with hundreds of their opponents, who were already gathered at the square to celebrate October 6 holidays and show support for the army, an Aswat Masriya eyewitness said.
The security forces fired teargas to disperse the crowds, which led to the suffocation of many people.
Three people were injured during the clashes, one of them suffering a gunshot wound.
