CAIRO, June 30 (Aswat Masriya) One police officer was killed and others were wounded in a bomb blast near Ittihadeya Palace in Heliopolis on Monday, state newspaper Al-Ahram said.
Egyptian television said that one other police officer was wounded in the explosion which took place in Al Ahram Street earlier on Monday.
The explosion followed news that bombs were planted by militants in the same area, Reuters said.
Monday marks the first anniversary of the June 30 protests that led to the ouster of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last year.
