CAIRO, Feb 16 (Aswat Masriya) - Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat referred several leading Muslim Brotherhood figures including former deputy governor of Alexandria Hassan al-Brens and ex-parliamentarian Sobhi Saleh to Alexandria's criminal court.

The two were charged with murder, sabotage, violence, rioting and demonstrating.

In addition to Brens and Saleh, the prosecutor general also referred 31 other Brotherhood members to the criminal court on the same charges.

Violence in protest against the ouster of former President Mohamed Mursi from power on July 3, 2013 has left one dead and 45 injured in Alexandria.

The list of suspects includes 15 detainees and 18 fugitives.

Scores of the Brotherhood's prominent figures are currently tried on charges of murder, inciting murder, and collaboration, while hundreds of its members are tried for committing acts of violence, murder, and assaulting state property, churches, and police stations.

Brens and Saleh were among the leading Brotherhood members during the time the Muslim Brotherhood assumed power and dominated the two parliamentary chambers in Egypt.
