Egypt's total budget deficit reached around 146.5 billion Egyptian pounds during the first eight months of the 2012-2013 fiscal year which equals 8.2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Ministry of Finance's monthly report revealed.
The budget deficit during the first eight months of the last fiscal year was 94.7 billion pounds.
The state's revenues increased by 3.9 percent during eight months to reach 184.9 billion pounds after it had been 178 billion pounds during the same period of the previous fiscal year, the report added.
The government expects the budget deficit to reach 200 billion pounds by the end of this fiscal year.
