CAIRO, Nov 26 (Aswat Masriya) A leading figure in the extremist “Ansar Beet al-Maqdas” movement was killed by security forces in North Sinai early on Tuesday.

Security sources told Aswat Masriya that forces killed the extremist and his son after violent confrontations.

Forces continue to search the area for suspects and hiding spots to restore security in the lawless peninsula.

Attacks on army and police forces have increased in Sinai since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July.
