Former presidential candidate and labor lawyer Khaled Ali praised the decision to release eight civilians who were sentenced by a military court in light of May's Abassiya clashes.
Ali described President Mohamed Mursi's decision to release the Suez protesters as a "victory for Egypt's uprising", insisting on the importance of releasing the rest of civilians who are detained in military prisons.
General Osama Askar issued the decision to release the eight youths while Suez governor Adel Refaat stated that they will be released on Thursday at 10 p.m., reported Al-Shrouk.
Suez's military court had sentenced seven out of the eight protesters to six months and one to three years. Only four of the eight who were accused attended the hearing.
