CAIRO, June 24 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Tuesday that he would only take half of his official salary and give up half of his personal estate to Egypt.

The newly elected President said that the situation required some sacrifices with Egypt's increasing budget deficit, which now amounts to more than two trillion Egyptian pounds, in a televised speech at a military graduation ceremony.

He added that no governmental employee will get a salary that exceeds the maximum wage.

"I cannot ratify the state budget as it is now and I asked the cabinet to review it. We need to take some procedures and tighten our spending."

Sisi said that Egypt cannot bear with categorical demands at the moment.

"I cannot answer to any categorical demand, not because I don't want to or because the government does not want to... it is because we can't, we do not have the resources."
