The constituent assembly’s ruling system committee has initially agreed on adding an article that gives all presidents lifelong membership in Egypt’s Senate (former Shura Council), Mohamed Mohi al-Din, rapporteur of the assembly’s defence committee, has said.

There are several proposals for transitory articles including one that determines the continuation of President Mohamed Mursi in his post until his term ends, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported Mohi al-Din as saying.

There are also proposals related to the electoral system and the upcoming parliamentary elections and the continuance of judicial supervision over the elections, he added.
