CAIRO, Dec 17 (Aswat Masriya) A misdemeanor court struck down on Tuesday the appeal of television anchor Ahmed Abdullah, who is known as Abu Islam.
The court backed Abu Islam’s reduced-sentence of five years in prison, on charges of insulting religions.
A Cairo court sentenced the Islamist preacher to 11 years and his son to eight years in prison in June on charges of tearing up a Bible, defaming religion and disturbing peace and security.
Abu Islam owns the religious al-Omma satellite channel.
