CAIRO, Sep 15 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy left for the United Kingdom on Tuesday, a statement by the military said.

Hegazy's official visit to London is due to last several days and the chief of staff is set to hold talks with British officials on increasing "military and security cooperation," the military said in a statement.

Hegazy is also scheduled to discuss "counter-terrorism methods and restoring security and stability to the Middle East."

In June, the British army provided 31 Egyptian army officers with two-week training exercises on protection from improvised explosive devices.

Also in June, the UK invited Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for talks in London, but no date for the prospective visit has been set.
