CAIRO, Feb 1 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt’s interim Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawi denied on Saturday that he has said that Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will run for presidency.

Beblawi said in a statement that Sisi will be the one to determine whether or not he will nominate himself in accordance with his vision and the nation’s interests.

Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper quoted Beblawi earlier saying that a new government reshuffle is expected soon, adding that it will include a new minister of defense, which confirmed speculations that Sisi may run for presidency.

Egypt’s high military council approved Sisi’s nomination last week, shortly after the popular strongman was promoted to Field Marshal.

Sisi’s popularity rose dramatically after he ousted Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July in response to mass demonstrations across the country.
