CAIRO, April 25 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian soldier was wounded in an armed attack on a security checkpoint in Sinai's al-Sheikh Zuwaid on Friday, security sources told Aswat Masriya. 

The attackers were in a truck when they started shooting on soldiers stationed at al-Zohoir checkpoint early on Friday.

One soldier received a bullet to the leg as the two sides exchanged fire before the assailants escaped. 

Security forces are currently combing the area in search for the perpetrators. 

Attacks on security personnel have increased since the ousting of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last July while thousands of Islamists have been rounded up.
