CAIRO, Nov 15 (Aswat Masriya) – Tens of journalists marched to the prosecutor general's office on Saturday to file a set of complaints against the chairman of the Zamalek Sports Club for insulting sports critics and Journalists' Syndicate members.

Six formal complaints were filed against the Zamalek club chairman, in protest over "obscene terms" he used against other journalists, said the syndicate's deputy head Gamal Fahmy.

The complaints followed a decision adopted by the syndicate last Sunday, banning the publishing of the name and photo of the chairman in any newspaper as well as banning hosting him on any shows. The syndicate also decided to boycott any press conferences the chairman calls for in reaction to his "insults" against syndicate members.

Fahmy told Aswat Masriya that media has been "the kiss of life" for the chairman, adding that this is why it is now being used as a "weapon" against him. 

The decision to ban the chairman from media exposure came to answer the request of the Sports Critics' Union to the syndicate.

The chairman had served a year in prison in 2007 for verbally assaulting a judge.
