CAIRO, Jun 3 (Aswat Masriya) - Unknown assailants attacked and killed two tourism policemen in an archaeological area near the Giza Pyramids on Wednesday, a top police official told Aswat Masriya.
The assailants "fired a barrage of bullets" at the policemen, Mohamed Farouk, the director of Giza investigations said.
The attack left one conscript injured.
Farouk gave orders to cordon off the area and comb the nearby desert to find the perpetrators.
Bombings and shootings targeting security forces have surged since July 2013, with security personnel being the target of most attacks.
Although most attacks were in North Sinai, less frequently attacks have taken place in other parts of the country, including the capital.
