CAIRO, June 26 (Aswat Masriya) - Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi has approved the allocation of one billion Egyptian pounds from the funds of an army body to the Tahya Misr (Long Live Egypt) fund.

Tahya Misr is an initiative started by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to encourage Egyptians to donate money to their country.

Sisi himself announced he will donate half of his fortune and half of his salary to support the country's economy.

The one billion will come from the funds of companies of an army body that implements civilian projects, an armed forces statement said.

The donation comes in response to Sisi's initiative to back the economy in light of the challenges Egypt faces.
