Former Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa says that as an Egyptian citizen he will continue with his role to push Egypt forward.
Moussa said in a press conference at his campaign headquarters in Dokki on Monday that he leaves the battle with a clear conscience because Egypt led a unique and historic race. He stressed that he will remain true to his promises and will do whatever possible to fulfill his obligations regardless of who gets to office.
Moussa added that Egypt is on the road to a promising future of becoming a regional leader once more and returning its strength. He added that the nation's future depends on the seriousness and hard work of its coming generation.
Moussa came fifth in Egypt's, supposedly, first competitive presidential election. He was able to collect some 2, 532, 267 votes, 11.2 percent, which put him in line after Mohamed Mursi, Ahmed Shafiq, Hamdeen Sabahi and Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh.
In his statement, Moussa thanked the media and his campaign members for their enthusiasm and hard work and voters for trusting him.
He insisted that reproducing the former regime and abusing religious slogans are both completely unacceptable.
He advised Egyptians to decide clearly and honestly what they aspire to for the upcoming period.
