Unknown assailants shot dead a Christian priest outside his home in North Sinai on Saturday, security sources said.

Eyewitnesses said that the assailants were riding a car when they shot Priest Mina Aboud Sharween, pastor of Arish’s Masaeed church, and fled.

He was transferred to Al-Arish General Hospital, but he was not rescued.

Another car opened fire on a police officer on the Arish Ring Road, wounding him. He was also transferred to the hospital.

In another area of Northern Sinia, unidentified gunmen ambushed a military checkpoint in the area of Kharouba, which led to the injury of one soldier.
