An Egyptian initiative against sexual harassment has called for a campaign to begin on Friday at 4 p.m. with the purpose of combating sexual harassment in the metro.

The campaign will begin at Sadat Station in the direction of Giza in an attempt to include as many volunteers and supporters as possible.

The campaign said on its Facebook page that the metro is responsible for many cases of sexual harassment against women in light of the absence of security and negligence of staff.

The campaign intends to hang posters such as, "Protect her instead of harassing her" and "These carts are for women" as well as raise awareness among women on how to defend themselves in the face of sexual assaults.
