Egypt began on Saturday using smart cards to distribute gasoline and diesel in stations in order to control smuggling.
The smart card determines the name of the station, the amount of the loaded gas and the date and area of usage.
"Starting today, Egypt will have an electronic system that allows full control of shipments of gasoline and diesel," said the product development manager at e-finance, the company that implements the smart card program.
