Starting from January up till the 30th of April, the deadline for closing stores in all fields will decrease gradually with the exemption of touristic shops and hotels, said the secretary of the association of the chambers of commerce, Alaa Ezz.

Ezz, added in a phone interview on a T.V. channel on Monday that the summer timing will be assessed later whilst considering the non-implementation of these deadlines in feasts and official vacations.

The municipalities are responsible for applying the decision of closing shops early, he added.

The executive regulation of this decision is yet being prepared. He pointed that all opinions of commercial groups had been considered nation-wild.

Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hatem Saleh said that Egypt’s government is not the only one to apply such a decision of closing shops down starting 10 pm.

"The economic depth of closing commercial shops early is not just in power saving but also to change the societal patterns and behaviors of Egyptians" , Saleh added.
