CAIRO, Sept 18 (Aswat Masriya) - Mexico summoned on Thursday its Egyptian ambassador and demanded compensation for the tourists convey mistakenly bombed on Sunday in the western desert, reported Mexican news outlet.

Mexican deputy foreign minister Carlos de Icaza delivered a note to Egypt's ambassador Yasser Shabaan demanding that the victims of the accident receive "full reparation for the damage, including compensation."

Twelve people were killed and 10 were wounded in the accident, the Mexican government confirmed that 8 of its citizens died in the accident and 6 were wounded.

According to Reuters, Egyptian forces bombed the convoy of Mexican tourists around 5 times over a period of 3 hours, even after security forces on the ground had stopped them twice and cleared their passage, one of six survivors of Sunday's deadly attack told Mexican newspaper El Universal from her hospital bed.

Mexico pushed forward these demands on the same day when foreign minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu left Cairo with the injured and their relatives, following a brief visit where she discussed the incident with her counterpart Sameh Shukri.

The Egyptian general prosecutor issued a publishing ban on the investigation until its conclusion. The ban includes all media outlets and only allows the publishing of official statements issued by the prosecutor.
