A Cairo Criminal court ordered on Wednesday the acquittal of 41 police leaders in the case of shredding, burning and destructing documents of the dissolved State Security Agency, which was often accused of torture and human rights abuses.
The State Security Investigations Agency was abolished following the 2011 uprising.
The prosecution had accused former leading figures in the State Security Agency of “issuing orders to destruct all its files, which denied Egypt important information regarding its national security.”
