CAIRO, Apr 19 (Aswat Masriya) - President Abdelfattah al-Sisi met on Sunday with the United States' Central Intelligence Agency director to explore means of reinforcing bilateral relations and discuss the latest regional and international developments, the presidency said in a statement.

According to the statement, Sisi and CIA Director John Brennan stressed the importance of strategic relations between Egypt and the U.S., as well as the contribution to laying the foundations for peace and stability in the Middle East .

During the meeting, Sisi and Brennan agreed to continue consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest, particularly tension spots in the ME and international efforts to fight terrorism, the statement added.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced the potential sale of missiles to Egypt in a deal worth approximately $57 million.

The DSCA said that the prospective arms sale will add to the U.S. national security "by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East."
