Deputy Head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Essam al-Erian, said on Sunday that God's will had foiled a plan to hold Hosni Mubarak's retrial in the era of the former prime minister Ahmed Shafik.
A Cairo court accepted today the appeals of former President Hosni Mubarak and his Interior Minister Habib al-Adly in the case of killing protesters during last year's uprising.
The court ordered on Sunday a retrial for both convicts who were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Erian said on his Twitter account that the retrial will occur during the reign of President Mohamed Mursi according to God's will, stressing that new evidences will be presented.
Meanwhile, one of Mubarak's lawyers, Mohamed Abdel Razek, had told Reuters that "the retrial will be based on the same evidence used in the previous trial. No new evidence will be added to the case."
