Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi - Reuters
President Mohamed Mursi will address the Shura Council (upper house of parliament) on Saturday.
The council's general committee will hold a meeting after Mursi's speech to discuss the topics that he will address, reported MENA.
The upper house has assumed legislative powers following the adoption of the new charter.
Mursi had held these powers temporarily after the dissolution of the People's Assembly (lower house of the parliament) after 'June'. Lower house will take over the legislative authority when a new house is elected and elections are expected within two month.
The Shura Council convened on Wednesday following the appointment of 90 new members. It is expected to draft a new parliamentary elections law to pave the way for the election of a lower house of parliament.
