CAIRO, Dec 16 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian police fired teargas to disperse protests staged by students supporting the Muslim Brotherhood near Ain Shams University in Cairo on Monday.

The students were heading to the Defence Ministry to commemorate 2011’s cabinet violent clashes.

Clashes erupted between security forces and students outside the cabinet headquarters in December 2011, leaving three people dead and 255 wounded.

The students raised the Rabaa sign (four fingers), in reference to the police crackdown on the Rabaa al-Adawia Islamist protest camp in mid-August and chanted against the police and army.

The authorities stepped up their security presence around the Defence Ministry and closed one the roads leading to it with barbed wires.

Similarly, security forces on Thursday fired teargas to disperse hundreds of protesters who gathered near Defence Ministry headquarters.
