Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi posted on Twitter on Saturday night that the rest of the revolution's political detainees will be released within days.

In a speech on the anniversary of the 6 October War, Egypt's Islamist president described January 25 of last year as the second "crossing" for the Egyptian people and their army.

He asserted that justice will be brought for the victims of last year's uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak, adding that a serious committee was formed to investigate the cases.

Mursi had formed a committee to study the conditions of post-Mubarak detainees after complaints from lawyers and families piled up as hundreds of protesters and civilians were being thrown behind bars by the military.

He issued a decree in July releasing 572 detainees out of a total number of 2, 165, followed by another group who was released during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
