Egypt president discusses issues of interest with India

In a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday morning, Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi discussed regional and international issues of interest, including the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian problem.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel attended the meeting as well as presidential aide Essam Hadad and the Egyptian Ambassador in India Khaled al-Bakly, reported the state news agency.

Mursi had arrived to India on Monday night upon the end of his visit to Pakistan’s Islamabad where he discussed means to enhance bilateral relations with the Pakistani president.

Egypt’s Islamist president is expected to conduct negotiations with Indian Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh at the presidential palace during his visit, followed by a press conference to sign a number of agreements. 

Mursi will meet with Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari among other senior officials
