CAIRO, Mar 18 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt condemned in the "strongest terms" the deadly shooting in the Tunisian capital on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdelatty said in a statement.
The attack took place inside the Bardo national museum in Tunis. It left at least 19 people dead, including two militants and a police officer, Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid said.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi denounced the attack in a phone conversation with his Tunisian counterpart Beji Caid Sebsi today.
A spokesman of the Tunisian ministry of interior said that a hostage situation was resolved in a security operation, with all hostages being freed.
The attack involved gunmen, whom he described as "terrorists" who carried Kalashnikov rifles, the spokesman said in a video statement posted on the ministry's Facebook page.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdelatty expressed solidarity on behalf of Egypt's government and people, adding that Egypt stands by the Tunisian government and people in the face of "terrorism and extremism, in all of its forms."
