CAIRO, Dec 3 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's wheat reserves are sufficient for at least six months, the supply ministry said on Saturday.

In a statement, the ministry said that a total of 250,000 tonnes of wheat arrived to Egypt over four shipments.

Minister of Supply Ali Mesilhy said that tenders will be issued to increase the wheat reserves.

A cabinet statement said on Thursday that Egypt's reserves of wheat are sufficient for four months while sugar reserves are sufficient for three months.

In recent months, severe sugar shortages hit the Egyptian market prompting talk of a crisis and pushing the state to rapidly increase imports despite an acute dollar shortage and soaring global prices of the sweetener.
