CAIRO, Nov 24 (Aswat Masriya) – Cairo Airport Authorities banned TV host Amr Al-Leithy from travel Thursday, based on a decision by the Prosecutor General, according to security sources.

According to the airport security sources, Al-Leithy was stopped as he attempted to board a flight to Dubai with his family. Their luggage was later removed from the plane.

Al-Leithy hosts “Wahid Min Al-Nas” TV show aired on the privately-owned Al-Hayat TV network. He is also the chief editor of Al-Khamees newspaper.

His show was temporarily suspended in October for an annual vacation, amid speculation that it would be suspended altogether after it aired a controversial interview with a tuk tuk driver who heavily criticized the Egyptian government.

In the interview, which had gone viral on social media, the driver criticized Egypt’s ailing infrastructure and economy.

The video was removed from show’s Facebook page shortly after it aired.

This comes only one day after Director of El Nadeem Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence Aida Seif El Dawla was banned from travel as she attempted to board a flight to Tunisia.
