CAIRO, Oct 20 (Aswat Masriya) – The Cairo Criminal Court fined on Monday the director of the Central Auditing Organisation with 15 thousand Egyptian pounds for insulting Egypt's Judges Club.

Former judge Hisham Genena, the director of the Central Auditing Organisation, is accused of defaming the Judges' Club through statements he made during an interview with private-owned daily al-Masry al-Youm.

Judges Club Head Ahmed al-Zend filed a complaint against the newspaper, in protest over the interview.

Journalist Ahmed al-Sanhoury, former al-Masry al-Youm chief editor Magdy El-Galad, and Genena were referred to the criminal court in November 2013.

The court also ordered Sanhoury and Galad to pay fines worth of 15 thousand and 20 thousand Egyptian pounds, respectively.

Genena was appointed as director of the Central Auditing Organisation by ousted Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in September 2012.
