CAIRO, Feb 10 (Aswat Masriya) - The Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is lacking in legitimacy since no country voiced its approval of the constructions Ethiopia is building along the Blue Nile, an Irrigation and Water Resources Minister official has said.

Ethiopia has begun building the Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile, which supplies Egypt with more than 80 percent of its water supply.

It has not been proven so far that any foreign country or a donor organisation has shown interest to fund the building of the dam, ministry spokesman Khaled Waseef said on Monday.

"There is no country in the world that seeks to antagonize a country the size and weight of Egypt," the Middle East News Agency reported Waseef as saying.

The spokesman stressed that the historical and geographical ties between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia make them indispensable to one another.

Egypt's Irrigation and Water Resource Minister, Mohamed Abdel Motteleb, arrived in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa in response to an invitation from his Ethiopian counterpart to discuss the Renaissance Dam building.
