An Egyptian Appeals Court has set December 9 for the first hearing of the trial of Muslim Brotherhood senior leaders, who are detained on charges of inciting violence in Giza clashes that broke out in July.
A judicial source told Aswat Masriya on Sunday that Mohamed Badie, Mohamed al-Beltagy, Essam al-Erian, Assem Abdel Maged, Safwat Hegazy, Bassem Auda and nine others will be tried at a criminal court in Giza on December 9.
Badie and other senior members are accused of organizing a rally whose purpose is to attack people and property, the source added.
They are also charged with the deliberate murder of six people, the attempted murder of 101 others, the damaging of private property and the illegal possession of weapons.
Mahdy Akef, the former supreme guide of the group, will stand trial on the following day, December 10, on charges of insulting the judiciary.
