CAIRO, May 10 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's defense minister Sedki Sobhi said on Saturday that the armed forces are capable of making the upcoming presidential elections successful and moving forward with the roadmap put forth last year.

Sobhi added in a statement on the army's Facebook page that the armed forces are only responsible for securing the presidential elections externally, but that the police are the main player to protect the vote.

He insisted that the armed forces are responsible for providing security and stability in Egypt internally and externally.

Egyptians will vote for a new president on May 26 and 27.
