Calm prevails at Azhar University following minor clashes

CAIRO, Jan 5 (Aswat Masriya) -  A calm atmosphere has prevailed at Azhar University following minor clashes between protesting students from the Muslim Brotherhood and security forces earlier on Sunday, the state news agency said.

Security forces dispersed the protesters whom the news agency said were trying to prevent other students from take their exams.

Students resumed their finals according to the set schedules without delay amid tight security measures on campus to counter any possible "rioting by the Brotherhood."

"All attempts by the Brotherhood students to halt exams have failed," Deputy President of Azhar University Ibrahim Hodod said.
