CAIRO, Oct 1 (Aswat Masriya) - An Egyptian criminal court referred on Thursday the case of jihadist Adel Habara and 34 others to the Grand Mufti after sentencing him for his involvement in the killing of 25 Egyptian soldiers in Rafah in August 2013.

Referral to the Mufti is a procedural step when death sentences are issued. Although the Mufti's rulings are not binding, it is customary for the court to adopt them.

The final verdict will be pronounced on Nov. 14.

Habara was sentenced to death last December in this case.

On Tuesday, another court upheld the death sentence against Habara on charges of starting a terrorist group, contacting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and engaging in violent acts targeting the police and army.

Habara was also sentenced to death in absentia previously for complicity in two terrorist bombings in Sinai in 2004 and 2006 which killed 42 people.
