Activists Ahmed Maher and Ahmed Douma in a hearing on December 8, 2013. Ahmed Hamed
CAIRO, Feb 10 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian appeals court has adjourned the trial of activists Ahmed Maher, Ahmed Douma and Mohamed Adel to March 10.
The three defendants were sentenced to three years in prison and fined 50,000 Egyptian pounds each in December for breaking the new protest law.
The defendants were also charged with attacking a Central Security conscript by the Abdeen Court and protesting without permit.
A law passed at the end of last year obliges Egyptians to inform the authorities of their intention to protest three days prior to their demonstration to obtain a permit.
