Scores take part in a protest to denounce the arrest of political activists and to demand their release on December 23, 2013 - Ahmed Hamed/Aswat Masriya
CAIRO, Jan 4 (Aswat Masriya) - Scores of the revolutionary "Thowar" movement took part on Saturday in a march in downtown Cairo's Ramsis Street to demand the release of all those who were arrested in the Shura Council protests last November.
Last November, hundreds were arrested, most of whom belong to the Muslim Brotherhood, on charges of breaking the new protest law which prohibits all demonstrations without a permit.
Some supporters of revolutionary and leftist movements, including activists Ahmed Douma and April 6th's Ahmed Maher, were arrested in December on the same charges.
CBC channel aired live footage showing the march on its way to the Journalists' Syndicate.
Several youth and revolutionary movements oppose the new protest law due to its extreme restrictions on demonstrations.
