Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi decided to suspend a court’s decision to dissolve parliament, on Sunday.

The Supreme Constitutional Court had ruled a number of articles of the parliamentary elections law void on June 14, leading to the dissolution of the People’s Assembly.

An early round of parliamentary elections will be held within 60 days of the nation’s approval on a new constitution, to elect a new assembly, reported the Middle East News Agency.

Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces, issued a decision on June 15 confirming that the constitutional court’s decision, to dissolve the Islamist-led assembly, was binding.

Mursi's decision means the return of legislative power to parliament after it being temporarily in the hands of the military council.
