Lebanese artist Sabah dies at 87

CAIRO, Nov 26 (Aswat Masriya) – Lebanese actress and singer Sabah was died in her sleep in Beirut early Wednesday at the age of 87, reported the Lebanese news agency.

The artist was keen on public appearances until her final days, despite her old age and receding health.

Jeanette Gergis Al-Feghali, or Sabah, was born in Lebanon in 1927.

She started her acting career in Egypt in the 1940s, overall contributing to over 80 movies both in Egypt and Lebanon and producing more than 3000 songs.

Though Lebanese, Sabah gained popularity through her heavy contribution to Egypt's art scene, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. She starred alongside famous Egyptian stars such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Ismail Yassin and Rushdy Abaza.
