UPDATE | Death toll in Alexandria clashes rises to two

CAIRO, May 2 (Aswat Masriya) - The death toll of clashes betwen Muslim Brotherhood supporters and residents in Alexandria rose to two, a medical source said on Friday.

Hossam Magdi, 21, was shot in the abdomen and later died in Hanoville Area west of Alexandria today, the source said.

Earlier, Gomaa Abdallah, 18, was also shot dead during clashes in Agami area West of Alexandria, said Major General Nasser al-Abd, head of Alexandria's investigation unit.

The police arrested 20 pro-Brotherhood protesters during the clashes, Abd added.

Clashes broke out earlier on Friday between residents of Abu Seliman and Dekheila areas on one hand and Brotherhood supporters on the other, prompting security forces to disperse the clashing parties.

On the other hand, supporters of presidential contender Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have staged a demonstration at al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque on Friday.

The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy, which backs ousted President Mohamed Mursi, has called for staging demonstrations on Friday.
